Dear Colleagues, Partners, and Participants,
The global energy landscape is undergoing a structural shift.
Across utilities, campuses, commercial systems, and public infrastructure, microgrids are emerging as a critical component of a more distributed, resilient, and adaptive energy future. Yet despite this momentum, the industry itself remains fragmented—operating without a unified institutional foundation.
In observing this, a clear gap became evident.
There is no centralized registry providing visibility into the companies and projects shaping the sector. There is no standardized pathway for the development of microgrid professionals. And there remains a disconnect-between technical execution and capital structuring that continues to slew-deployment.
The Microgrid Today Institute was established to address these conditions.
Not as a media platform, nor as a standalone training provider—but as an institutional framework designed to bring structure, coordination, and long-term continuity to the industry.
For those who are building, investing, or participating in this space, the opportunity is not simply to engage—but to help shape the structure through which the industry operates.
The institute is being developed with a long-term perspective.
Its purpose is not only to support current market participants, but to contribute to the establishment of enduring structures that will support the industry as it continues to evolve.
We are in the early stages of this effort.
Respectfully,
Rodney Walker
